JANUARY 05

Waiting for some cleaning product from POR, I decided to take the fuel tank off of the car. One of the two nuts which hold the tank in place was frozen (passenger side). No way to move it. I had to cut it out. I also cut the plastic tube of the fuel line.

I have not the tool to remove the filler tube so I have some problem to have the tank out of the car. This stupid operation took me 2 hours. The four screws which hold the filler cap plate in place had to be drilled out. The I remove the housing which cover the filler tube. The filler tube itself didn't want to come off of the tank. The only way to remove the tank was let the tube passing through the hole in the trunk floor. Finally the tank was out.

I've ordered some cleaning product from POR15 to have the tank properly cleaned and sealed

Weather was too bad to work in the garage, so I made some work in my company laboratory. There I can count on a compressor, tools, proper working space and at least a good temperature!

I've taken the water pump apart. According to the expert on the forwardlook network, the car was equipped with the AC pump model. Maybe to have more cooling power for the californian hot temperature.

The water passage look very rusted out. I'll clean them with a proper product. I was not able to disassemble the pump. I have no puller so I decided to buy a replacement pump already rebuilt.
